Agency Description  A Harbour Master, Fremantle was first appointed in August 1829 to be responsible for pilotage and light services at the port of Fremantle. With the creation of the Harbour and Light Department in 1880, responsibility for these functions at Fremantle and some other ports was passed to that Department.
