Agency Description

The Public Transport Authority was formed on 1 July 2003 to bring together the services of Transperth, Transwa, School Bus Services (all operating under the Department of Planning and Infrastructure) and the WA Government Railways Commission.

The Public Transport Authority is responsible for; - rail, bus and ferry services in the metropolitan area; - public transport services in regional centres; - bus and rail passenger services in regional areas; and - school buses.

In addition to these transport services, the PTA is responsible for designing and building transport infrastructure.
